Sergeant York Products

Alvin York was born into a poor farm-family from Tennessee in 1887. As a young man he enjoyed drinking heavily and bar brawling (Who doesn't?), then he found religion. During WWI York applied for conscientious objector status (his religion discouraged warfare and violence) but was rejected. And it was a good thing for the U.S. Army.

York won the Medal of Honor for actions in France on October 8, 1918. After his platoon suffered heavy causalities York assumed command and charged a machine gun nest. He and his men captured 32 machine guns, 4 officers, and 128 enemy soldiers.

Sergeant York also tried to re-enlist during WW2, but at 53 years old, he was denied.
